SPOT (Stop Pet Overpopulation Today) is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer, nonprofit organization working to end the dog overpopulation problem in our community. We raise funds through local fundraisers, grants and generous community donors to assist low/no-income dog owners in Lane County spay or neuter their dogs.
Since 2008, SPOT has provided funds to fix over 7,000 dogs, which has in turn saved tens of thousands of unwanted puppies from being born and being neglected, abandoned, or euthanized in shelters.
SPOT’s mission has always been to ensure that no one who is willing to take this important step for their dog companion is turned away for financial reasons. SPOT and our clinic partner, WAG (Willamette Animal Guild) Spay Neuter Clinic engage in extensive outreach to find community members who need our help, and receives many referrals from local organizations, veterinarians, humane societies, and rescue groups.
SPOT’s small, hardworking board receives no salaries and pays no rent and has only minimal overhead. This enables SPOT to put 97% of all raised funds directly into spay/neuter vouchers. SPOT receives no government funding and depends entirely on local donors, fundraisers and grants to continue this important work.
